As this site is dead for the time being due to not having enough active members, I wanted to see if people would be interested in a game that wouldn't require as many people to work well. Instead of managing fighters, each person gets to run a promotion. Things you would do would include scouting fighters, signing fighters, and matchmaking fighters for events. Let me know what else you think could be involved.
Someone would run the regional leagues, and then everyone else can sign guys to their leagues from those events.
I've thought a lot about how one would create and edit the fighters as their careers progress. However, I'm not quite sure how the finances could best work for this game.
Let me know if you would be interested and if so what ideas you may have.

I think fighter progression should be based on performance possibly. If they get a Punch KO they get +.5 punch meanwhile the guy who got KOed would get -.5 chin.
As for money, everyone gets a large set amount and PMs admin how much they would pay for each fighter they want per event and fighters go to highest bidder.
Those are my ideas.

We could do it kind of salary cap style, that would be a lot easier than trying to figure out a fair way to assign how much revenue people generate from cards.

Hopefully everyone who was playing will see this and keep playing. Not hard to contact many of the guys though.
Still not a word from the site dev guy. And I'm not going to IM him or bug him.
I also think giving guys more punching because they won by punches isn't really the best option. There's got to be a more realistic way of fighter progression. Maybe do what CSFBL does, and have every fighter have a peak rating that they can only achieve if they absolutely train their best. So basically their max potential in each rating, and then give each fighter a development rating. The dev rating determines how quick they progress.
There's the blueprint. The rest of the details ... aka the #'s need to be figured out, but could always be tweaked.

I have an idea for fighter contracts and the way the financial side of the game could work. Each promotion has a budget to work with sort of like a salary cap. For contracts, promoters offer free agents, and the deal goes to the highest bidder. The promoter then can select the duration of the deal between 1 and 5 fights. So if they get a guy for 10k, they can choose to sign him to a 1 fight, 10k deal or a 5 fight, 50k deal.
When it comes time for the fighter to be a free agent again, all promoters can make offers. However, if a new promoter has the best offer, the original promoter has the right to match the deal.

There will be no end game. You can't establish yourself as the powerhouse promotion like the UFC or go out of business like Affliction, but it would still be fun. We could also have lineal titles and/or allow occasional compromoting to see who has the best champions.
As far as fighter progression, I agree it should probably be based on potential ratings. Nothing wrong with doing it based off of results, maybe we could have bonus to the ratings for certain performances or something.
Also, is it worth it to include scouting, and if so, how should it work? What information about the fighters will be public, etc.

If nobody has any other thoughts on this. I might try it on my own for a little while to see if the career progression works well.

I've been working on this a little bit.
As far as who can play, you can work out your beef with the admin, I don't really know what went on.
Also Admin, if we actually do this new game, could we still do it on this site?

Yeah you could no problem.
In fact, if you want, I could give you the sim. And you can just take off where I left off, if you want to do a more relaxed version of what I did.
